Alpha Waves

Alpha waves range between between 8 & 12hz, and in characterised by an wakeful but relaxed state of consciousness.

STRESS & ANXIETY RELIEF

The alpha state is a very chill state to be in! It’s like a warm blanket for your ears when you’re feeling a little stressed and anxious. Binaural beats and isochronic tones in the alpha range can serve to trigger your relaxation-response as an antidote to a state of ‘fight-or-flight’, which is triggered by the sympathetic nervous system when your body feels under threat. As its name suggests, the sympathetic nervous system works for your benefit – to keep you away from danger – but to spend your time in a perpetual state of stress and anxiety can wreak havoc on your health. Our audios can help you cultivate a state of presence, so that you can react calmly to stressful or anxious situations.

CREATIVITY

When creative people such as artists, graphic designers and musicians etc. are in their element (in a state of flow) their brains have been shown to exhibit strong alpha brainwave patterns. While theta can enable the creative individual to dive deeper into that sea-of-consciousness and creative possibility, Alpha waves are less fatiguing and can enable you to remain in a more active and motivated state during creative tasks. Everyone reacts differently but you could say that Theta is better for relaxed contemplation, while Alpha is better for more active, hands-on endeavours.

Binaural beats and isochronic tones are very useful for helping you achieve this state of flow and immersion as you engage in a creative hobby. They can be used either before or during the task itself.

VISUALISATION

Like Theta, or any slow-wave brainwave pattern, Alpha can encourage the formation of vivid mental imagery. Visualisation can be used in conjunction with affirmations for self hypnosis and mindprogramming, to help contemplate ideas, or as an aid to meditation.
